Who Are Associates?

Associates are lay persons, single or married, who seek a deeper relationship with God through a formal relationship with the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity. Many of our associates are architects, nurses, teachers, businessmen and businesswomen, but, indeed, our associates come from all walks of life. We value the talents and gifts Associates bring to the community, whether joining us for retreats, prayer, celebrations, or work. Associates work closely with the community, providing assistance in a variety of ways.

As an associate, you are invited to pray with the community, attend retreats, meetings, and social gatherings with the Sisters and other Associates.

Why become an Associate?

Associates join the community of the Sisters of St. Francis to deepen their relationships with themselves, others and God. Many seek to work with a community that is actively involved in seeking peace and justice, reaching out to the poor and the disadvantaged. Others join to discover a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. Involvement with the community's ministries often simplifies one's life, providing a deeper sense of indeed being brothers and sisters. .

The North American Conference of Associates and Religious (NACAR) is a membership organization that acts as a catalyst to serve, empower and promote the Associate-Religious relationship.
